September Community Roundup
COVID-19 has changed many things, but it hasn't changed our commitment to our community. This September, we strengthened our commitment to several local organizations to support Philadelphians and our members by hosting a few sessions and supported a number of local organizations.
Highlights of our latest community activities:
- Women's Way Gender Wealth Summit: On September 16, PFCU's Erin Ellis served as a facilitator at the Women's Way Inaugural Wealth Summit. The summit hosted by the Gender Wealth Institute (GWI) brought together participants for a full day of learning, sharing, and imagining new possibilities to influence/reduce the gender wealth gap. During the summit, participants were able to engage with a variety of diverse experts, build solidarity with others committed to closing the gender and racial wealth gap, and celebrate women.
- Mount Airy Art Garage (MAAG) Rocks Art!: PFCU served as one of the sponsors for the 'MAAG Rocks Art!' festival on September 17. This arts and crafts street festival hosted by MAAG, a nonprofit Arts Hub founded and driven by a group of professional artists featured live music, food, and a wide variety of incredible art.
- Bloomsburg University Football: To kickoff football season, PFCU sponsored the Bloomsburg University's football team on September 24. As the crowd cheered on the Huskies, PFCU gave out branded swag to all attendees.
- Public Service Loan Forgiveness Webinars: Ellis continued to host webinars throughout the month to discuss Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) and the Limited PSLF Waiver. Under the PSLF Limited Waiver opportunity, most of the PSLF qualifying payment rules were suspended through October 31. Under this temporary waiver, those that take the necessary steps, may get credit for payments made on loans that would not normally qualify for PSLF. Ellis helped explain how to navigate the limited time opportunity. Webinars were held with SpArc, Free Library, PFCU members, and our other partner groups.
For more than a year, we have hosted webinars and free virtual events to provide useful information for our community.
