May 27, 2022

Title sponsor brought back the Orange Zone and introduced the first-ever Pet Lovers' Photobooth in partnership with PSPCA

Kensington Derby & Arts Festival

PHILADELPHIA, Pa., May 27, 2022 – Philadelphia Federal Credit Union (PFCU), the title sponsor of the 14th annual Kensington Derby and Arts Festival, welcomed back families, foodies, artists, and inventors to the beloved community event after a two-year hiatus.

To celebrate the return of the Philadelphia Federal Credit Union Kensington Derby & Arts Festival, the credit union brought back its signature Orange Zone, and introduced its first-ever Pet Lovers' Photobooth, and partnered with Pennsylvania SPCA to host an on-site pet meet & greet.

Spanning across three miles, the annual festival and parade traveled through Kensington and Fishtown, navigating multiple obstacles along the way. The festival brought Philadelphia locals and visitors together with artists, musicians, performers, food and drink—and a parade of homemade and human-powered vehicles. Additional details on the experiences PFCU hosted on-site are outlined below:

Philadelphia Federal Credit Union Orange Zone
Philadelphia Federal Credit Union Orange Zone: a dedicated cheering section along the festival route and located near the Philadelphia Federal Credit Union Fishtown Branch on Dauphin Street (between Trenton Avenue & Frankford Ave). Always a crowd-pleaser, guests waved branded rally towels and enjoyed custom swag as Derby participants made their way through the course.

Philadelphia Federal Credit Union Pet Lovers' Photobooth
Philadelphia Federal Credit Union Pet Lovers' Photobooth: the first-ever photobooth for feathered and fur babies within the Orange Zone. Here, pets enjoyed treats from Piggyback Treats, which rescues ingredients from local and regional businesses from going to waste. During the event, PFCU encouraged guests to enter the "Petsington photo contest" for a chance to win a $500 cash prize, a matching $500 donation to the PSPCA, and the honorary title Sir or Lady Petsington 2022. This year's winners were Ashley Panicker and Sara Wallace-Keeshen and their dogs, Nala and Freckles. Nala and Freckles were crowned Sir Freckles and Lady Nala Petsington of the PFCU Kensington Derby & Arts Fest and winners of the inaugural PFCU Pet Lovers Photo Contest.

PSPCA Meet and Greet PSPCA Meet and Greet: strengthening its commitment to local nonprofits and organizations, PFCU sponsored an on-site dog meet and greet in partnership with Pennsylvania SPCA. The meet and greet was located within the Orange Zone, where adopters were welcome to submit applications.

"As we transition to normalcy, we were thrilled to engage with the Fishtown and Kensington community once again as the title sponsor of the 14th annual Philadelphia Federal Credit Union Kensington Derby & Arts Festival," said Karen Eavis, Communications Specialist at PFCU. "Arts and culture are very important to the Philadelphia community, and to us, there's no better investment than our neighborhood. Despite the weather, we had so much fun! Thank you to all the gracious pets and humans who participated in our first-ever photobooth contest in partnership with PSPCA."
