-- 175 women at homeless shelter receive holiday gifts from PFCU employees --
Philadelphia, PA, December 22, 2017 – Philadelphia Federal Credit Union (PFCU) employees donated personalized holiday gifts to 175 women at Gaudenzia’s House of Passage – a shelter that offers supportive services to homeless women in Philadelphia—on Wednesday, December 20, 2017.
The gifts were collected through PFCU’s holiday giving drive, which encouraged employees to help fulfill the women’s holiday wish lists – they requested winter hats, scarves, mittens, perfume and even children’s toys. Karen Williams, Case Manager Supervisor at Gaudenzia’s House of Passage, coordinated the donation on behalf of the House.
The holiday donation is just one way PFCU supports the organization. Throughout the year, PFCU provides financial counsel to the women of Gaudenzia’s House of Passage and helps them understand concepts such as budgeting, fraud and credit. The seminars underscore PFCU’s commitment to helping individuals in the community achieve financial independence.
“We teach the women at Gaudenzia about personal finance concepts, and it’s rewarding to watch them move on to find housing, get better jobs and develop savings habits,” said Erin Ellis, Accredited Financial Counselor at PFCU. “It’s exciting to celebrate them this holiday season with personalized gifts.”
