December 2022 Community Roundup

Jan 10, 2023

Year-round, PFCU is committed to showcasing our commitment to the community we call home. This December, we strengthened our commitment to several local organizations to support Philadelphians and our members by hosting a few sessions and supported a number of local organizations.

Highlights of our latest community activities:

  • Venture Café Funding Your Small Business Panel: On December 15, PFCU's Financial Educator and Community Relations Specialist Erin Ellis served as moderator at the Venture Cafe Funding Your Small Business Panel. This nonprofit organization connects innovators and entrepreneurs with high-impact programming and weekly networking events, such as panels. The panel Ellis participated in was presented by Clarifi's Young Professional Board and invited entrepreneurs, lenders, and investors who provided insight to attendees looking to fund their small business ventures.
  • House of Passage and Families Forward Donation: To spread holiday cheer, PFCU's Human Resources Department donated toys to nonprofit organizations, Gaudenzia House of Passage and Families Forward Philadelphia. Gaudenzia House of Passage provides temporary shelter and ongoing services for single women, while Families Forward Philadelphia offers the largest emergency shelter for families in Philadelphia experiencing homelessness. Both organizations were thrilled to receive PFCU's generous donations.
  • Season of Giving Campaign: This year,PFCU's Season of Giving Campaign benefitted the nonprofit organization, HIAS Pennsylvania that supports low-income immigrants of all backgrounds through legal services and offers an array of social services as they build new lives in the Philadelphia community. Between the donation made by PFCU and generous funds contributed by individual PFCU associates a total of $4K was raised through PFCU's Season of Giving to benefit HIAS Pennsylvania.

For more than a year, we have hosted webinars and free virtual events to provide useful information for our community.
