Community Ties: Philadelphia Federal Credit Union Hits the Pavement in Support of Local Charities

Nov 6, 2015

At PFCU, we don’t just back a good cause, we pick it up and run with it… literally. During October and November, we laced up our sneakers to participate and sponsor 5Ks organized by two local organizations whose missions aim to support good health and an ongoing vitality within our community.

On Sunday, October 11th, PFCU made its way out to the Port Richmond Trail for Delaware River City Corporation’s 2nd Annual Greenway 5K. We are proud to be a longtime supporter of the DRCC, who is dedicated to building the 11-mile North Delaware Riverfront Greenway, a linear park in the Port Richmond neighborhood of Philadelphia.

On Sunday, November 1st, we supported our friends at Philadelphia Free To Breathe, an organization whose mission is to ensure that lung cancer survival is an expectation, not an exception. The 10th Annual Lung Cancer 5k Run/Walk and 1-Mile Walk welcomed more than 2,000 participants and raised over $300,000 dollars to help fund lung cancer research. There’s still time to help Free To Breathe reach its goal of $415,000, and fundraising will remain open through December 31st. For information on how to donate, visit http://freetobreathe.org/philadelphia.

Thank you to all who came out to support two great causes. Here are photos of the action:
