Community Roundup: St. Patrick’s Day Parade + Winner of the Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby Student Team Sponsorship
At Philadelphia Federal Credit Union (PFCU), our neighborhoods are near and dear to our heart. Here’s a roundup of our latest community activities:
On Sunday, March 12, PFCU participated in the 247th Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade. According to the St. Patrick’s Day Observance Association, the Irish of Philadelphia have been celebrating St. Patrick’s Day for over 245 years! Each year over 20,000 Philadelphians come together to parade across the city and celebrate the deep Irish history of the community. PFCU is a parade sponsor each year and is looking forward to the 2018 celebration.
PFCU team members proudly march in the 2017 Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, March 12.
Last month PFCU announced its sponsorship of a student team for the 2017 PFCU Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby and Arts Festival. We received several amazing entries from schools all over Philadelphia! After careful consideration, we have selected the winner! PFCU will sponsor two sculptures from The Workshop School. Students will begin construction on their projects following an initial budget meeting with PFCU’s Accredited Financial Counselor, Erin Ellis.
The 2017 Philadelphia Federal Credit Union Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby & Arts Festival will take place on Saturday, May 20 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
As a token of our appreciation for their applications and efforts, the runner up applicants are each eligible to receive waived entry fees for the 2017 Derby and a $250 donation from PFCU should they plan to participate. We’re so excited to see the imaginations of The Workshop School come to life. Will their sculpture survive the infamous mud pit at this year’s Derby? Stay tuned to find out!
