Community Roundup: National Financial Literacy Month and Community Paint Day
At PFCU, we care about our community and actively work to enrich our neighborhoods. Here's a roundup of our latest community activities:
During National Financial Literacy Month in April, PFCU's Accredited Financial Counselor Erin Ellis visited local elementary schools to teach 3rd, 4th and 5th graders lessons in how to establish good financial habits. After each lesson, students were invited to participate in PFCU's 5th annual Picture of Success Art Contest. Every year, we invite elementary school students to submit a work of art that depicts one of their financial goals. Winners of the contest receive prizes for their entire classroom, along with a personal $100 savings account.
For years, our art competition has prompted conversations between teachers, parents and young people about the importance of learning and practicing positive financial habits starting at an early age. Starting May 9, the artwork from ten finalists will be posted to PFCU's Facebook page for the public to vote on through May 23. Be sure to cast your vote, and keep an eye out for when we announce winners on May 24!

In case you missed all the action, we hosted a Community Paint Day at our Fishtown branch on E. Dauphin Street. Employees and neighbors gathered to help contribute to the paint process, working behind-the-scenes on a mural that will soon be a staple in the East Kensington-Fishtown community.
A fun-filled day was enjoyed by all. We look forward to unveiling the mural at a dedication ceremony held at the Philadelphia Federal Credit Union Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby & Arts Festival on May 21, 2016. Thanks to all those who came out to partici-paint!
Neighbors from the East Kensington-Fishtown community meticulously paint within the lines, and inch by inch, bring the PFCU Mural closer to completion.
PFCU and the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program send special thanks to everyone who came out to lend a hand (or a paw!) during Community Paint Day.
