Community Roundup: HIAS Pennsylvania, SEAMAAC, Northeast Regional Library Branch Seminar, and more!
In August, Erin continued to host three different virtual classes for clients from the Asylee Outreach Program through HIAS Pennsylvania. The class, led by Erin on Tuesday, August 3, taught participants about credit unions and money management, credit basics, and building credit. HIAS Pennsylvania supports low-income immigrants of all backgrounds as they build new lives in our community. Through immigration legal services and an array of social services, they work to address immigrants' needs, defend their rights, and advocate for their equitable inclusion in American society.
Erin also continued to host virtual classes for English-speaking students at SEAMAAC, one of the oldest and largest refugee-founded agencies in the region with a workforce of more than 80% bi/multilingual staff, serving constituencies from as many as 18 distinct linguistic communities. The classes Erin taught on Friday, August 6, focused on personal finance topics, including credit unions and money management, and credit basics.
On Wednesday, August 4, Erin hosted an in-person seminar at the Northeast Regional Library Branch in the library's yard. The class focused on credit.
For members interested in learning how to build a spending plan to better manage their money, Erin hosted a 'Saving and Planning for a Mortgage' webinar on Tuesday, August 24.
