PFCU in the Community: Q2 2024

Throughout the year, PFCU takes pride in assisting ordinary Philadelphians in achieving their financial goals. As an institution owned by its members, we are deeply invested in the well-being of our community. Demonstrating our commitment, we have donated both resources and valuable time to support various organizations and institutions across Philadelphia. Plus, we host educational programs to empower and educate individuals.

Forum Philly Event

On April 4, Yahne Jackson, PFCU's Financial Educator staffed an information table at an event hosted at the Philadelphia Museum of Art Perelman Building. The forum "What Would Martin Do/Say" was hosted by Forum Philly Inc., Lauren Footman LLC and The Martin Luther King Jr. Association for Nonviolence Inc. The objective was to reflect upon Dr. King's Legacy of advancing the work of economic justice and worker equity and opportunities.

Philadelphia Gas Works Retiree Association's Annual General Meeting

Talk about empowering! PFCU Financial Educator Yahne Jackson and Business Development Manager Leanne Dewitt shared membership information and organized free financial literacy workshops for the more than 400 retirees in attendance on April 24.

Tasty Baking Company Open Enrollment

On April 25, PFCU Business Development Specialist Yorkenia Gomez joined Tasty Baking Company for their open enrollment event, collaborating with Human Resources Generalist Khadijah Jackson-Bey to assist employees with their benefits and financial questions.

On April 27, our Business Development Specialist Yorkenia Gomez was back in action at the United House of Prayer for All People's Community Day, distributing literature and free giveaways to support community engagement and financial literacy.

PFCU Business Development Specialist Yorkenia Gomez attended the school's first career day on April 30. Participating in this event was part of our ongoing effort to help young people in our community explore career options and develop essential financial skills.

PFCU proudly sponsored the Kensington Derby & Arts Festival on May 11. Our Fishtown Branch Manager, Robert Tsyzka, served as a judge for the mud pit challenge, while Business Development Manager Leanne Dewitt distributed PFCU literature and giveaways, fostering community spirit and engagement.

Friends of Hackett's Spring Soiree

On May 18, PFCU sponsored a special gathering for this non-profit organization. Friends of Hackett's mission is to provide support to all of its students, teachers, staff and parents in order to maintain a safe and academically engaging environment both in school and within the community.

Black Men's Wellness Day

On June 8, PFCU supported Black Men's Wellness Day, organized by the National Center for Urban Solutions & AA Male Wellness Agency, held at Temple University's STAR complex. This event focused on promoting health and wellness among African American men in our community.
