Community Roundup: Q4 2024

January 9. 2025

Throughout the year, PFCU takes pride in assisting ordinary Philadelphians in achieving their financial goals. As an institution owned by its members, we are deeply invested in the well-being of our community. Demonstrating our commitment, we have donated both resources and valuable time to support various organizations and institutions across Philadelphia. Plus, we host educational programs to empower and educate individuals.

Here's a summary of our recent community involvement:

  • Temple University Workshop for Student Athletes - Introduction to Personal Finance: PFCU Financial Educator Yahné Jackson conducted an engaging workshop on October 16 to help student-athletes navigate personal finance essentials. This session provided practical tips on managing budgets and building a secure financial future.
  • HMS School's Community Day: PFCU proudly sponsored the pumpkin decorating crafting event on October 6, bringing joy and creativity to the community. We cherish opportunities to connect with families and spread financial literacy awareness.
  • East Falls Fest Sponsorship: On October 19, PFCU served as the presenting sponsor for the 2024 East Falls Fest, featuring a 1,400-square-foot Halloween-themed maze, pumpkin decorating, face painting, inflatable ax throwing, food, music and more.
  • Awbury Arboretum Harvest Festival: PFCU joined this annual celebration held on October 20 to connect with the local community while promoting our financial services and educational resources. It's always rewarding to support such vibrant and inclusive events.
  • Podcast Panel on Financial Literacy in the Latino Community: On November 1, Business Development Specialist Yorkenia Gomez, representing PFCU, joined a panel discussion on iHeart Radio's Rumba 106.1 highlighting the importance of financial literacy within the Latino community. This event reinforced our mission to empower diverse populations through education.
  • PFCU Giving Tree: At PFCU, our commitment to community runs deep, and we're proud to highlight the impactful efforts of our team. This quarter, one of the standout initiatives was the Giving Tree fundraiser. Spearheaded by PFCU team members, the campaign successfully raised $4,635 for Cradles to Crayons Philadelphia, along with newly purchased items from C2C's most needed items lists. These contributions will help provide essentials for children in need, ensuring they have the resources to thrive.

When we lend our unwavering support towards these exceptional endeavors, it truly underscores our commitment to effecting positive change in the lives of Philadelphians.
