Philadelphia Federal Credit Union Responds to Coronavirus Outbreak

Mar 27, 2020

The health and safety of PFCU members and employees is our top priority. As we continue to monitor the impact of coronavirus in our region, please be assured that we are taking preventative measures in our branches to mitigate the spread of illness and ensure seamless access to you accounts.

Your Money is Safe with PFCU

Please know that your money is always safe with PFCU. All money deposited into PFCU accounts are federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration up to $250,000. We also offer our members Excess Share Insurance for an additional $250,000 at no cost. This means that members‘ accounts, whether single or joint, are insured for up to $500,000.

How to Access Your Accounts Online

You don’t have to visit a PFCU branch to access your money. Members are encouraged to continue managing their banking needs 24/7 by using PFCU’s free Philadelphia FCU Mobile Banking App and Teller Net, the credit union’s online banking system. With online banking, you can:

  • Manage your Accounts

    View transactions and balances.

  • Apply for Loan

For the money you need, when you need it.

  • Update your Information

Make sure we can stay in touch by updating your personal information.

  • Transfer Money

Move money within your accounts, to other PFCU members or to anyone using Popmoney Mobile.

  • Deposit Checks

Take a photo of a check with your phone or tablet.

  • Make Payments

Pay your PFCU loan or use Electronic Bill Payer to pay and receive your external bills.

  • Skip-a-Loan Payment

If you can’t afford to make a monthly payment, we will not charge you a late fee and it will not be reported to the credit bureaus. With PFCU’s Skip-A-Pay program, three payments on each eligible loan can be skipped within a 12-month period and fees will be waived. Read more.

  • Manage a Lost Debit Card

Temporarily turn your debit card on and off to help prevent unauthorized card transactions using Card Management.

  • Enroll in eStatements

Sign up for eStatements and reduce your exposure to mail contaminants.

If you haven't enrolled in Teller Net yet, it's easy to get started. Once enrolled, download our mobile app and log in with the same username and password.

Here are some other things to consider:

Add your Debit Card to your Digital Wallet

Once you add your card to Apple Pay™, Google Pay™ or Samsung Pay™, you can use your phone to make payments with a simple tap and go, rather than pressing the buttons on the keypads in public areas.

Be Diligent about Protecting your Personal Information

Unfortunately, scammers thrive in times of crisis. Remember that PFCU will never contact you to ask for confidential information such as Social Security numbers, account numbers, passwords or other secure information. If you are unsure about whether a call or email that you received is legitimate, contact us at 215-934-3500 or 800-832-PFCU. Read more.

If You Are In Need of Financial Assistance

If you’ve found yourself in need of financial assistance and you’ve been a PFCU member for at least three months, you can apply for our Hardship Relief Loan. This loan will not accrue interest and does not require payment for the first 60 days. Please note, the Hardship Relief Loan cannot be used to refinance existing loans. Learn more about the terms here.

First Mortgage Assistance

For our members with first mortgage loans, our partner, First Mortgage Loan Servicing Center is offering options if you have a hardship. Contact them directly at https://service.loanadministration.com to discuss your situation.

We're Here to Help

We will continue to monitor the developments across the U.S. and our region and will provide updates as needed. For the latest update about Coronavirus, we encourage you to visit the CDC's Resource Center.
