Throughout the year, PFCU takes pride in assisting Philadelphians in achieving their financial goals. As an institution owned by its members, we are deeply invested in the well-being of our community. Demonstrating our commitment, we have donated both resources and valuable time to support various organizations and institutions across Philadelphia. Plus, we host educational programs to empower and educate individuals.
Here's a roundup of our recent community involvement:
- Summer Financial Literacy Program: In August, PFCU's own Financial Educator Yahné Jackson made a big impact at the Boys and Girls Club as part of the Philadelphia City Controller's Office Summer Financial Literacy Program. Yahné led two seminars introducing students to key financial topics, including banking and credit. Investing in the future of our community is at the heart of what we do, and we proudly celebrate the students who completed the program!
- PFCU Participates in Temple Fest: We were thrilled to join Temple University's Temple Fest this August! Our Business Development Specialists connected with first-year students, providing them with information on PFCU's products and services. Plus, attendees had fun spinning our prize wheel for co-branded swag. It's always an honor to help Temple students start their journey to financial literacy.
- East Falls Branch New Account Promotion Winners: To celebrate the opening of our newest branch in East Falls, PFCU ran a special promotion from May 13 through July 31. All new accounts opened during this time were entered into a drawing, and we're excited to congratulate Cynthia Kreal and Marquel Lucas, who each won $1,000! Their prize was deposited right into their new PFCU accounts.
- 34th Annual Tri-State Labor Day Parade and Family Celebration Sponsorship: We proudly sponsored this year's Tri-State Labor Day Parade, hosted by the Philadelphia Council AFL-CIO. The parade, held on September 2, was followed by a family celebration at Penn's Landing featuring food, crafts, kids' activities, and live music. PFCU's Business Development Manager Leanne Dewitt was on hand to share resources and giveaways with attendees. It was a wonderful way to come together and celebrate!
- A Sweet Movie Night in East Falls: PFCU Financial Educator Yahné Jackson and East Falls Branch Manager Terrance Robinson attended a movie night featuring "Wonka" on August 28 at Inn at Yard Park in the East Falls community. Bringing fun as well as financial literacy to our community is built into our DNA!
- La Feria del Barrio Festival: We were honored to support the La Feria del Barrio Festival on September 8. This vibrant event has been celebrating Latino culture in North Philadelphia since 1979, with live music, arts and crafts, and delicious food. PFCU was proud to be a part of the festivities, sharing financial resources and giveaways with attendees.
- Salvation Army "Embracing Community" Open House: We were honored to sponsor this special event where local community families gathered at the Salvation Army Philadelphia's Kroc Center to learn about the organization's many programs while enjoying a DJ spinning favorite tunes, raffles and giveaways, refreshments, a kid's zone featuring bounce houses, and other festivities.
- PFCU Day at Temple University: PFCU members and Temple fans alike enjoyed a day of football at the Temple vs. Coastal Carolina game on September 14. Our Treasurer of the Board, Joseph F. McHugh, Jr., proudly accepted the game ball from Temple's Director of Athletics, Arthur Johnson. PFCU staff were also on-site to give away co-branded caps and bags to fans.
- PFCU Night at Citizens Bank Park: On September 24, our team joined Phillies fans at Citizens Bank Park to watch the Philadelphia Phillies take on the Chicago Cubs. The excitement of the game, combined with our giveaways and community spirit, made for a memorable night as we cheered our home team on their way to the playoffs!
- NCUS & African American Male Wellness Agency's "Sips & Sisterhood" Event: We're proud sponsors of the "Sips & Sisterhood" event, part of an ongoing series of literacy workshops. On September 27, Financial Educator Yahné Jackson joined other attendees for a fun and informative morning of coffee, networking, and financial empowerment.
At PFCU, we believe in the power of community and are dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of Philadelphians. Through these events and more, we continue to live out our mission of supporting and educating our members and neighbors.
