Community Roundup: PFCU “Spending Plan and Money Management” Webinar and Depaul USA “Feels Like Home” Fundraiser

Oct 28, 2020

On Tuesday, October 20, PFCU’s Erin Ellis hosted a “Spending Plan and Money Management” webinar for PFCU members, where she discussed savings and financial goals, ways to track and to increase income, track and decrease spending, and create, track, and improve cash flow.

If you are interested in hosting a seminar in your community or at your place of employment, PFCU’s seminars are always free and offered on a variety of topics. We will work with you to schedule the most convenient time for a virtual seminar. If you would like to schedule a one- or two-hour financial education seminar, please contact Erin Ellis at financialeducation@pfcu.com.

On Friday, October 23, Erin showed support for Depaul USA’s “Feels Like Home” online fundraising event by contributing a clip to the documentary and assisting with internal communications; PFCU was a proud sponsor of the event as well.

The event welcomed people to tune in and watch the debut of a documentary about Depaul’s newest project, the Dax Program at St. Joseph’s House, a residential program for local college students experiencing homelessness. Due to the increasing rate of homelessness among college students due to campus closures in the spring, Depaul was recently able to fast track the opening of its new shelter to welcome students who needed a safe place to stay.

Students from universities throughout Philadelphia who have benefitted from this critical work and who need support now more than ever shared their inspiring stories during the event, which included opportunities to show support through live fundraising and silent auction items.

Depaul has been a close partner of PFCU’s for many years, and just a few years ago, many PFCU employees helped support the residents of Depaul House by donating gently used clothes for the men to wear to job interviews. During the start of the pandemic, PFCU continued to show support during hard times by sending books and activities to help people stay occupied and entertained during the quarantine. Erin has served on the Local Advisory Committee for Depaul since 2017 and has worked with them to provide financial education to their residents since 2014. Depaul is a wonderful and impactful organization that serves a range of people experiencing homelessness in Philadelphia, and could use any type of support you are able to lend.
