Community Roundup: PFCU Holiday Giving Tree Campaign, Creating Healthy Online Shopping Habits Webinar
To make the holiday season a little brighter, PFCU's Erin Ellis facilitated initiatives to help spread some holiday cheer, while providing financial advice during the biggest purchasing time of the year.
On Tuesday, 12/7 Erin led a webinar on "Creating Healthy Online Shopping Habits" for PFCU members. While everything is just one click away, this webinar was designed to help participants institute healthy online shopping behaviors. The webinar explored the psychology at work when it comes to financial decisions while shopping online. In addition, participants learned about the importance of habits and strategies to implement and improve our financial decision-making online, and beyond.
As an organization that has fostered a culture of giving back, PFCU employees participated in the annual Giving Tree Campaign, which supports a local non-profit partner by buying presents for participants in their programs. This year PFCU's Giving Tree partner was the Episcopal Community Services (ECS) Out of School Time program (OST). This afterschool enrichment program offers project-based learning and 21st Century skills for kids in elementary and middle grades. OST's daily activities benefit youth, but at its core, OST brings families together and serves as a resource for the neighborhood.
In addition, PFCU employees donated money to help OST reach its goal of providing gift cards for 600 children. That way, their parents can buy and wrap the right present for each child this holiday season! The amount raised by employee donations was then matched by PFCU, and in total $6,000 was donated to OST.
