Community Roundup: 250th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Voices of Excellence Financial Literacy/Business Education Day
In March, we strengthened our commitment to several local organizations to support Philadelphians and our members by hosting a few sessions, as well as sponsored the 250th St. Patrick's Day Parade.
Highlights of our latest community activities:
- 250th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade: On Sunday, March 13, the 250th St. Patrick's Day Parade was back in Philadelphia after it took a two-year hiatus because of COVID-19. For the fifteenth year, PFCU was one of the sponsors of the annual parade. Over 75 PFCU team and board members, including Patricia Craven, PFCU's President/CEO marched along the parade route with the Avalon String Band. From 16th Street to Penn's Landing, PFCU and the Avalon String Band performed for the crowd as the city makes strides to return to normal.
- Voices of Excellence Financial Literacy/Business Education Day: On Friday, March 18, Springfield Township High School held the Voices of Excellence (VOE) Financial Literacy/ Business Education Day. Voices of Excellence (VOE) is a minority student leadership group at Springfield Township High School that focuses on building its members' character through service. During Financial Literacy/Business Education Day, students are educated on the fundamentals of finance and how to financially prepare for life after high school, as well as the pros and cons of being in business. PFCU's Erin Ellis was a guest speaker and discussed her education and work experience. After, Erin led a financial education activity for the students about spending styles and "paying yourself first".
For more than a year, we have hosted webinars and free virtual events to provide useful information for our community.
