What is Verified by Visa?

A layer of protection based on Risk Based Authentication designed to safeguard members making purchases online.  Originally members needed to enroll in this service and remember a user name and password if a merchant asked them for it.  Effective in 2018 transactions will be risk rated and approved or denied based on this rating.

Doesn't Visa already protect my card from theft and fraud?

Verified by Visa is only one component of our efforts to prevent, detect, and resolve security issues. Specifically designed to make online shopping experiences safer and more secure, Verified by Visa gives you extra control over your Internet transactions

Can I use Verified by Visa with any Visa card I have now?

Yes, Verified by Visa is designed to protect the Visa card, or cards, that you already have - whether they are credit cards or debit cards.

Can I use Verified by Visa from any computer?

Verified by Visa works with just about any computer that's connected to the Internet. There is no special software to install.

What are the browser requirements for Verified by Visa?

Verified by Visa supports all the major browsers including Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera as long as the browser supports 128 bit encryption.

How do I know if my browser supports 128-bit encryption?

Click on the Help menu of your browser, and select About to see the browser encryption level (i.e. 128 bit or 40 bit).

Where can I shop using Verified by Visa?

Wherever you see the Verified by Visa symbol, you know you can shop with an added layer of security. For a list of participating online stores, visit the Places to Shop section.
