Position Title: Mortgage Processor
Job Type: Full-Time
Classification: Non-Exempt
Salary: Starting at $18.36 - $27.54 per hour *based on experience

As a member of this team, your primary responsibility is to serve and satisfy the credit union members. This includes whether your job involves dealing with members directly or providing service to someone who does.

This position requires the employee utilize their experience in processing, and closing, first mortgages and making sound decisions to ensure PFCU’s safety and soundness.

Essential Functions & Basic Duties

  • Must meet department minimum standards
  • Provide members with a superior level of customer service
  • Obtain all information deemed necessary to process loan requests in a timely manner, including but not limited to credit reports, income verification, appraisals, lien searches, etc.
  • Provide assistance to members and solve all problems that arise between application and settlement
  • Accurately complete all loan commitments as needed.
  • Insure proper completion of RESPA, HMDA, and other relevant federal regulations
  • Answer member telephone calls
  • Coordinate loan closings between members, sellers, and title agents
  • Process and submit loan packages accurately to underwriting
  • Accurately prepare and have delivered all loan closing packages prior to the settlement dates
  • Verify the accuracy of all disclosures and closing documents prior to closing
  • Gather necessary mortgage histories, payoffs, VOE, and VOD
  • Resolve various member inquires through clear and detailed explanations
  • Consistently maintain expected level of production including pipeline management
  • Activate private mortgage insurance
  • Contributes to the team effort by performing other duties as assigned
  • Available for loan closings that may occur after business hours and/or weekends
  • Contribute to the team effort by performing other duties as required
  • Complete periodic training/certification for, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
  • Must be extremely detailed oriented
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently.
  • PC proficiency required
  • Working knowledge of Symitar system
  • Thorough knowledge of mortgage origination system
  • Knowledge of the all regulations governing mortgage loans including Reg. Z, Fair Credit Reporting Act, ECOA, RESPA, HMDA and Fair Housing Act, S.A.F.E., Dodd-Frank, etc
  • Ability to analyze credit reports, title reports, insurance policies, Fannie Mae reports, condo documents, budgets and by-laws
  • Ability to calculate debt ratios, mortgage insurance, taxes, flood insurance and escrows
  • Thorough knowledge of PFCU loan policy and procedures
  • Ability to handle conflict and resolve problems
  • Have a solid understanding of all criteria for home purchase, refinance, debt consolidation loans and subordinations

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours as required with little or no prior notice
  • Employees must have at least 1 year of employment with PFCU before posting

  • Ability to operate office equipment
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
  • Employee must register with the NMLS Registry as required by the S.A.F.E. Act
