Philadelphia Federal Credit Union Opens Branch in Fishtown Section of Philadelphia
Credit Union hopes to make an impact in the neighborhood by providing residents with an alternative to traditional banks and help the community achieve financial goals
Philadelphia, PA, April 17, 2013 – Philadelphia Federal Credit Union (PFCU) today announced the opening of a new branch located at 2136 E. Dauphin Street in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia. This new flagship location will bring a drastically different banking experience to this burgeoning neighborhood and fill a need for those seeking more personal attention when it comes to their finances. PFCU members and local residents are invited to visit the new location.
“Fishtown is a close-knit community full of hard-working families that deserve to have a place to visit where they can get the resources they need to improve their financial future,” said James McAneney, President and CEO of Philadelphia Federal Credit Union. “PFCU offers better rates, significantly fewer fees and gives members the satisfaction that the money the credit union makes goes back into the community, not into shareholders’ pockets. Our new location in Fishtown isn’t just a building; it’s a promise to those living there that we’re committed to becoming a part of their lives and helping them prosper.”
The 3,000 square foot branch will offer members an ATM, free financial counseling, an Internet café and free coin-counting machine. It is located just minutes from Frankford Avenue and is on the National Register of Historic Places, as it was once home to the 26th District Police and Patrol Station. PFCU will celebrate this rich history with photography throughout the branch.
“The opening of this brand-new branch is a welcome addition to the Kensington and Fishtown neighborhoods,” said Sandy Salzman, Executive Director of New Kensington Community Development Corporation. “PFCU’s promise to not only support its members, but also local small businesses, illustrates the company’s long-term investment in Philadelphia and we look forward to its impact on the continued development of our community.”
The Fishtown location lobby hours of operation are Monday through Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. In addition to having access to 24/7 phone, online and mobile banking and a network of free ATMs, members now have access to ten branches.
